Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals who’s focus is treating people who have a loss of function from health conditions, injuries, or disabilities.

Treatment can include a wide rage of techniques and instruments to help increase range and function, promote recovery, and decrease pain. These instruments include acupuncture, ultrasound, dry needling, spinal manipulation, manual therapy and exercise prescription.

Above techniques paired with rehabilitative exercise prescription and patient education help to empower our clients to take charge of their health and well being.

Physiotherapy is indicated for but not limited to those experiencing disc injuries and postural instabilities, sprains, strains, impingement, tendonitis, post surgical rehab, sport injuries, muscle imbalances, trauma based injuries such as motor vehicle accidents, and systemic conditions such as arthritis.

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy focuses on the rehabilitation of the pelvic floor muscles with the intention of increasing mobility and strength while reducing pain. This is done using manual techniques, gentle stretches and exercise after thorough assessment of the muscles, joints and connective tissues of the pelvis, low back and hips. Informed consent is obtained by the therapist at each step of treatment, to be sure patient feels secure and empowered during treatment. It is important to note that although an internal pelvic exam is a great tool to help understand the level of dysfunction with in the pelvic floor, it is never mandatory and is always is up to the discretion and comfort level of the patient. At Peak Wellness Collective our Physiotherapist Steph Jones, MPT is specially trained to assess and treat pelvic floor dysfunction.

Pelvic Floor Physio can be helpful with the treatment of the following: Pelvic pain, Diastasis recti, Birth Preparation, Pelvic instability, Organ Prolapse, Postpartum recovery, Urgency and frequency of urination, Stress incontinence (urine leakage with laughing, coughing and/or exercise).

Patients can start pelvic floor physio as soon as 6 weeks postpartum as long as patients have been cleared by their OB/GYN/midwife.

KINESIOLOGY

Kinesiology is the study of human movement and the mechanics of body function. Kinesiologists apply principles from biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, and neuroscience to help improve physical performance, manage injuries, and promote overall health.

Kinesiologists assess movement patterns, design exercise programs, and provide education on injury prevention and healthy lifestyle choices. Often Kinesiologists work alongside other healthcare professionals to support rehabilitation and recovery from injuries or surgeries.

Our Kinesiologists aim to improve quality of life by applying evidence-based strategies tailored to your individual needs. This is especially great for those ICBC clients that have been injured and need to strengthen damage muscles and help postural related issues.

Treatment may involve therapeutic exercise, stretching, strength training, and manual therapy to optimize function and promote wellness. Patients can expect personalized exercise plans to enhance movement, improve athletic performance and reduce the risk of injury.
